Love Snoqualmie Valley turns website into central, community support site during COVID-19 crisis

On a bit of bright news, a community-wide resource is now available to bridge the gap of needs across the Snoqualmie Valley – with resources to offer support during the coronavirus pandemic.

Love Snoqualmie Valley, which launched a community-wide volunteer initiative last fall, took the lead and is using its website as a collection and distribution point for different needs during this unprecedented time.

Community members can find help, give help, and learn about the resources available like food and medication delivery, financial assistance, shelter services, and more.

You can also follow the Love Snoqualmie Valley Facebook and Instagram pages for latest information. They will be using their social media channels to feature the most critical community needs for a week at a time to focus resources and energy.

This week’s focus is local backpack programs. According to Love Snoqualmie Valley, “School districts and food banks do a phenomenal job feeding kids throughout during the week, but many families go hungry over the weekend and the backpack programs serve this need.”

Before the COVID-19 crisis hit, approximately 325 backpacks were being provided each weekend. Last weekend, though, approximately 650 backpacks were distributed. Food is getting low for these critical programs. Needs include individually wrapped, kid-friendly foods like top ramen, cup of noodles, and Mac-n-cheese.

An update from Helping Hands Ministry was just posted showing how community donations have helped to continue filling these backpacks.

Anyone needing assistance or make donations can visit www.lovesnoqualmievalley.com or call the Helping Hands Support Line at 425-888-0096.
