Updated: Loud Rock Slide Startles Valley Residents Thursday Evening

Update 2:34 PM: Resident Geoff Goetz sent an image of the area where he believes the slide image as well as an image of the side of Mt. Si itself saying, “I’ve attached a couple of images of the area that show what appears to be a recent change in the rock face, identified as the lighter colored vertical area near the center of the image. If you look closely near the bottom, you can see several treetops that have been sheared off, likely a result of the rock slide.”

Residents report the slide went on for about a minute and sounded like the mountain was exploding. Unnerved some ventured out to look for damage but found none down at the street level.

When asked for comment Sergeant Tim Meyers the Public Information Officer for the King County Sheriff said officers were sent out to look for slide damage but found none. No more updates are expected this evening.
