The Loch Katrine Fire is estimated at 1,777 acres. Yesterday, crews were working in the areas of Sunday Creek and Big Creek to construct control lines along the fire’s edge.
Tactical firing operations were successful in helping to establish containment lines that were held through the night. Aircraft could not support ground efforts due to an inversion holding smoke and fog over the fire area.
Today, those lines and pumps will be placed along the Sunday Creek and Big Creek areas to bolster the containment lines and prepare for any potential wind that may test the perimeter.
No evacuation is currently in place for this fire.
Weather: Today will see a mix of sun and clouds. Areas of smoke are likely to reduce visibility at times. Temperatures will be in the mid-70s throughout the day; winds will continue to be light and variable. Thursday’s forecast calls for light rain that may impact the fire area.
Smoke: Smoke and haze from the nearby fires will reduce visibility and air quality for most of the day. The smoke column may be visible from the I-90 and I-405 highway corridors.
