Better late than never, right? A few of the ski slopes at Snoqualmie Pass finally opened on Sunday, December 16, 2019.
Two Summit West runs opened – Pacific Crest and Little Thunder – as Snoqualmie Pass is still a bit low on snowfall totals. Skiers were advised to take it extra easy in the lower zones (snow depths are still low) and use caution since coverage on the upper part of the mountain was much better.
According to the Summit at Snoqualmie, “Laps on the main runs were enjoyable despite the early season conditions, and for those that ventured off-piste there was soft boot-top snow to be found in clearings.”
As of now, the plan is to reopen Summit West on Wednesday, December 18th. Hours are scheduled 10AM-4PM Wednesday – Sunday.
Heavy snow is in the forecast for the passes mid-week through Friday, which could also allow Summit Central’s status to be upgraded. If the current weather forecast holds, though, rain could return to the lower mountain passes over the weekend.
Skiers and snowboarders are encouraged to monitor the Summit at Snoqualmie website and Facebook page for the latest and most upgraded schedules.
Snoqualmie Pass slopes opened about the same time last year – a year that saw big snowfall amounts later in the winter. So… keep those snow dances going!
