King County Sheriff's Office Reports Snoqualmie River Drowning In Carnation

This sad news was released from the King County Sheriffs Office today.  With the hot weather upon us and even hotter temperatures forecast for the next two days, it is even more important to remember that area rivers are still cold and currents can run fast, weakening even strong swimmers.

Here is a great Snoqualmie River safety video. Be safe and remind your kids to be safe.

Today shortly after 3:00PM King County Sheriff’s Deputies and Eastside Fire and Rescue responded to a report of a possible drowning in the Snoqualmie River near 1550 West Snoqualmie River Road NE in Carnation.

A 20-year-old man went swimming with a group of co-workers.  At some point the victim was unable to stay afloat and slipped under the water.

Two boaters kayaking down the river attempted to pull the victim up and out of the river, but were unsuccessful due to the depth.

Eastside Surface Rescue recovered the victim from the water and CPR was initiated.  The victim was transported to the hospital and where he was pronounced dead.

The King County Sheriff’s Office Marine Unit is conducting the investigation.
