King County Sheriff John Urquhart Heading to Fall City for Public Safety Meeting

Tuesday, March 10, 2015, King County Sheriff John Urquhart, will host a Town Hall centered around public safety topics in the Fall City area. Urquhart is the chief law enforcement official for 1.9 million residents and oversees the King County Sheriff’s Office.

The meeting runs from 7PM – 8:30PM at the Fall City Fire Station meeting room. located on the south side of the station at 4301-334th PL SE.

Sheriff Urquhart’s visit to Fall City is part of a coordinated effort by the Fall City Community Association, which represents Screen Shot 2015-03-06 at 11.03.17 AMapproximate 5,000 residents, and King County Councilmember Kathy Lambert.

KCSO Sgt. B.J. Myers explained the climate around police and community relations is forefront for the Sheriff Urquhart right now.

Myers stated that although Councilmember Lambert and Sheriff Urquhart will be meeting to discuss topics for the meeting, the sheriff is aware of some important local issues affecting Fall City residents including, drug prevention and crackdown, homeless camps in the area, summertime issues with floaters on the Snoqualmie River, surveillance cameras and patrol enforcement around Fall City.

In recent weeks, many Fall City residents have raised concerns over a homeless camp at the Fall City Art Park, located at the corner of SR 202 and 335th PL SE, where they say possible drug dealing has been witnessed. Several residents say they contacted police regarding the camp, which is located on Century Link property.

The Fall City Town Hall meeting is free and open to all. Residents can also ask questions of Sheriff Urquhart.  Parking is limited and overflow spots are available at nearby Fall City Elementary School.
