King County Data shows 17 new COVID-19 cases in Snoqualmie Valley over past month, 99 total cases now

During May and most of June, the Snoqualmie Valley had seen very few new COVID-19 cases reported by King County Public Health. On June 28th it was only 6 new cases over the previous 4 weeks (when we originally published this article), but in past three days those new June cases increased to 17.

The most recent cases were: June 30th – 1 in Snoqualmie; June 29th – 4 in Snoqualmie (all in unincorporated area), 3 in North Bend (2 in city limits and one in unincorporated area), 1 in Carnation. June 28th – 1 each in North Bend and Snoqualmie (city limits).

According to King County Public Health data, since the coronavirus pandemic began in March, there have now been 99 total cases in the Snoqualmie Valley; 8 hospitalizations and two deaths.

The Snoqualmie Valley has nearly 60,000 residents from Duvall to North Bend.

King County now only reports virus data for unincorporated areas once per week, but its COVID-19 Outbreak Summary Dashboard tracks data for cities daily. The most recent report for unincorporated areas was released on June 30th.

In early April – when King County launched its outbreak summary dashboard – the Snoqualmie Valley had approximately 40 reported cases of COVID-19. By May 1st that number grew to 75 cases, with 4 deaths. May saw a smaller increase. On May 30th there were 82 cases and 3 deaths, with one death removed from Duvall stats. This month, King County DOH removed another death, this time from North Bend stats.

Since the pandemic began, in King County there have been 10,345 cases of COVID-19 reported, 1,600 hospitalizations and 589 deaths.

After a sharp decrease in cases and hospitalizations in May, cases and testing in King County have increased in recent weeks. A new Washington State DOH situation report noted increasing COVID-19 in King, Pierce and Snohomish counties – in addition to hot spots in the Eastern Washington counties of Yakima, Spokane, Benton and Franklin.

Due to increasing infections statewide, as well as in other states, Washington DOH paused any counties moving into phase 4 (essentially no restrictions) of the SafeStart reopening plan. Eight counties were eligible to move to phase 4 when the announcement was made on June 27th.

Health Secretary John Wiesman said over the next couple of weeks, state officials will work to “assess the need for a modified approach for moving beyond Phase 3.”
