Ice Climber Suffers Serious Injuries after Long Fall near Snoqualmie Pass, Source Lake Area

Search and Rescue teams from Seattle Mountain Rescue, the Ski Patrol Rescue Team (SPART) and King County Explorer Search and Rescue responded to the Source Lake area near Snoqualmie Pass, Wednesday evening, December 3, 2014, for a fallen climber.

According to King County Sheriff’s Office (KCSo) Sergeant DB Gates, the climber was a male in his 30’s.  Seattle Mountain Rescue stated via their Facebook page that the ice climber was severely injured after suffering a long fall when an anchor failed. KOMO News reported that the man fell 30-40 feet.

Seattle Mountain Rescue crews located the injured climber and provided the initial medical care. KCSO Guardian 2 helicopter was then called in to hoist the injured man out of the mountainous area late Wednesday night.

KCSO Guardian 2 reported the injured climber was transported to Harborview Medical Center for treatment of his injuries suffered during the long fall.
