Huxdotter Coffee Robbed, $700 Donation for Zach Solomon Gone, Community Steps up in Big Way

Snoqualmie Police Captain Nick Almquist said sometime between October 18th and October 19th, while the business was closed, Huxdotter Coffee, located at 101 West Park Street in North Bend, was broken into and robbed.

Taken from the small, drive-thru/walk up coffee shop was $750, including $700 in cash Huxdotter Coffee had collected to help with Zach Solomon’s medical expenses incurred after he suffered traumatic injuries in a head-on collision with a school bus on September 21, 2015.

Since the September 21st accident on Mt. Si Road, the coffee stand had been selling bracelets in honor of Zach for $5 each – with all proceeds benefitting Zach’s family.

This week after damaging an entry door, a thief made off with those community donations.  Heartbroken, Huxdotter’s ownership stated via their Facebook page that the envelope was clearly marked – so the thief knew they were taking donations.

The ownership expressed wanting the responsible person caught, but mostly they just wanted the money back for Zach and his family.

By the next day, just 24 hours after the break-in and theft was discovered, Huxdotter Coffee returned to their Facebook page, replacing earlier anger and frustration with gratitude and love, announcing that in one day the community had donated $700 to replace what was stolen.

Huxdotter’s ownership says they will continue to sell Zach’s bracelets to support his recovery.  They also said they “can’t thank everyone enough” for the generosity.

The business also said it will now be more careful. The damaged door was replaced and cameras and a security system were added – AND the Snoqualmie Valley community helped in a big way with a very generous spirit.

Snoqualmie Police Captain Almquist said there is no suspect information in the Huxdotter break-in. Anyone with information can contact the Snoqualmie Police Department at 425.888.3333.
