Housing Development Construction Traffic Leads to Street and Pedestrian Improvements

The City of North Bend announced John Day Homes will begin constructing street and pedestrian improvements from the SE 140th Street and East North Bend Way intersection – up  to the entrance of the future Tanner Falls development located on SE 140th Street.

North Bend Public Works Director, Mark Rigos, said the work is being done to help with road safety in the area, as there is a lot of truck traffic on the tight, sharp-turning street. Those construction trucks are currently working on land grading for a future John Day Homes development called Tanner Falls.

Rigos explained although new home construction at the site won’t commence for 1-2 years, the street and pedestrian improvements are taking place now to increase safety along 140th during early land and site work.  He said the future development will have around 50 homes.

The 140th street improvement project will widen the paved travel lanes, create wider shoulders, improve sight distance for vehicular traffic and build a pedestrian walkway with curbing.

Construction is expected to begin around Monday, March 2, 2015 and last 1-2 weeks. The City of North Bend warns that exact construction dates are weather dependent and could be subject to change.

Drivers traveling in the area should be prepared for minor traffic delays and one-lane closures.  SE 140th is a common travel route for parents and some school buses heading to Twin Falls Middle School.
