UPDATE | MAY 26TH, 5AM
Well, it wasn’t quite the storybook season ending that many were hoping for, but the Mount Si boys soccer team finished second in state. The lost a hard fought battle to Puyallup in the 79th minute when PHS converted a 20 year free kick into the game-winning goal.
The final score was 2-1. Mount Si finishes the 2019 season 17-3-0. The state final was Coach Darren Brown’s last game as head coach. He will step down to focus on his Athletic Director role after 15 years at the helm of both the boys and girls soccer programs at Mount Si.
Congratulations on an amazing season!
ORIGINAL STORY
The Mount Si Boys soccer program made history Friday night – twofold history. Never before had the program made it to a state semi final game and by 8PM Friday night, history was made again as the team earned a shot at the state title.
All the scoring in the tight match came in the first half. Ferris High School got on the board first after a corner kick led to a goal in the 24th minute. It only took Mount Si a couple of minutes to even the game, though, when Drew Harris converted a header for a goal. Then in the 37th minute, Reed Paradissis also used his head to covert a corner kick from Harris for the go-ahead goal.
Mount Si now faces a tough Puyallup High School team that defeated Jackson 4-0 in the other state semi game Friday night. Puyallup has been rolling in the playoffs – in three games scoring 12 goals and only giving up one.
The 4A State Championship games kicks of at 5PM, May 25th at Sparks Stadium in downtown Puyallup.
