The National Weather Service (NWS) has a High Wind Warning in place for the East Puget Sound Lowlands, including the Snoqualmie Valley, from 4PM Thursday until 4AM Friday, December 12th.

At 10AM, NWS upped their original High Wind Watch to a Warning. Winds of 30-40MPH and gusts up to 60MPH are possible.

In the Snoqualmie Valley, winds were already picking up Thursday morning, with Mount Si High School recording a gust of 51MPH and North Bend Elementary a gust of 40MPH.

A strong low pressure system was spinning off the Northern California/Southern Oregon Coast and is expected to track northeast toward Washington later this afternoon and evening.

Weather forecasters said the strongest winds are predicted to happen later today and tonight and begin easing around midnight. With the recent heavy rains, gusts of this strength can easily topple trees.
