Helicopter Hoists Child From Rattlesnake Ridge Area after Christmas Eve Fall into Crevasse

Helicopters were hovering in the North Bend area Christmas Eve afternoon to assist in the rescue of a 8-year old boy in the Rattlesnake Ridge area.

King County Search and Rescue, along with fire and medic crews, reached the child who fell into a crevasse around 2PM, December 24, 2013.

King County Sheriffs Office Guardian 2 helicopter  then performed the rescue hoist around 3:30PM and transported the boy to Harborview Medical Center.

The King County Sheriff Office said the child was complaining of back pain after falling about 12-15 feet.  He and his father were about two miles up the trailhead when the accident occurred.

The child’s current condition is unknown.
