Helicopter Activity Over Mt. Si: Training, Not Rescue

We had a few inquiries today about the helicopters circling in the Mt. Si area.

Good news, both Seattle Mountain Rescue and King County Search and Rescue report that there are no active rescue missions occurring in King County today, June 12, 2013.  There was a rescue of an injured hiker on Tiger Mountain yesterday, though. That operation was wrapped up by 7PM on June 11, 2013.

Glenn Wallace of King County Search and Rescue reminded me that often times helicopters are over the Snoqualmie Valley on training exercises and law enforcement operations.

Reader Mercedes Crabtree reported this evening that today’s helicopter activity was in fact part of a river safety training operation.  Training, not rescue.  That’s a relief this time of year.
