If you live in Snoqualmie and are heading toward I-90, you may run into some traffic backups this morning/afternoon.
Around 10AM, April 15, 2016, the I-90/SR 18 guardrail went down again, crushed under the weight of another tipped semi. It appeared that the Washington State Patrol was on scene to help control traffic until a tow truck arrives to right the truck and get it on its way.
For those that live in the area, or regularly commute through the busy interchange, seeing a semi tip while making the sharp left turn at the westbound I-90 light to westbound SR 18 is nothing new.
The busy interchange received $150 million from the 2016 Transportation Bill that eventually will improve the often congested and heavily used freight connection point. The Washington State Department of Transportation’s website has studied the interchange and calls for a flyover ramp between I-90 and SR 18 as the ultimate solution.
After a June 2015 semi tip crushed the often battered and bruised guard rail, a humorous resident started a twitter feed called I90 Guardrail. This morning its latest tweet said “I’m feeling flat this morning (again). These makeovers are getting expensive! Fix I-90×18.”
