Got Seahawks Spirit? North Bend Home Shows it off with Lights, Makes Seahawks Twitter Feed

In the world of social media,  being ‘shared’, ‘retweeted,’ ‘liked’ or ‘favorited’ by a popular social media account is kind of a big deal.

And if that account happens to be the Seattle Seahawk’s popular Twitter feed with over 350,000 followers, right as the NFC West Champions are gearing up for an important playoff game… well, it’s pretty exciting.

That’s exactly what happened to Joy and Roy Baunsgard over the weekend.  The Seattle Seahawks tweeted a photo of their North Bend home – adorned with team-colored blue and green lights – and announced to Twitter-land that the Seahawks light display would remain up as long as the team was in the playoffs.

Always listen to your wife

Roy said the lights were actually his wife’s idea, explaining he was hesitant to hang Christmas lights this year so Joy suggested going with green and blue lights. That way he could leave them up longer, even past Christmas, for the Seahawks – the team Roy loves.

From there Roy said it was a manhunt to find all the blue and green LED lights he could.  He admits the project started small and just kept growing – to the point where he had a friend make him the outline of the words “GO HAWKS” that he then lit with blue lights and stuck on the front of the house.

Since the little-turned-big, Seahawks-inspired holiday lights display has been brightening up the night in North Bend, not only did the Seahawks tweet a picture of the house, but Q13 Fox even stopped by and shot some video for their “Q it Up” sports show.

In addition, Roy says it’s really fun to have all the Seahawks fans driving past the home honking and yelling, “Go Hawks!”

The Baunsgards hope to keep the lights turned on until Monday, February 3rd, which would signal the Seahawks made it back to the Super Bowl.

And they’re not done adding to the display either!  On Tuesday, January 7th, Roy added a three-foot “12” over the “Go Hawks” in honor of Seahawks fans – lovingly referred to as the 12th Man.

The Seahawks face the New Orleans Saints at home in the NFC Divisional Playoffs on Saturday, January 11th. Kickoff is slated for 1:35PM. Fox will provide television coverage.

The North Bend Theatre will also be showing the game on the biggest screen around the Valley – free of charge. Doors open at 1PM.

  • I live right down the street from this house and I love getting to drive by so often. This year I changed out my blue lights to blue and green and I’m leaving them up too! Mine aren’t anywhere near as cool though. GO SEAHAWKS!!!
