Mount Si basketball wins boys 4A state championship

Mount Si defeated Central Valley 58 – 47 to win the State 4A championship. Jabe Mullins scored 26 points and had 7 assists. Hayden Curtiss added 12, Bennett O’Connor had 9 points, Tyler Patterson scored 8 and Quin Patterson 3 in the victory.

ORIGINAL STORY

For the second straight year, the Mount Si boys basketball team will play for the Washington State 4A championship inside the Tacoma Dome.

After handily beating Federal Way in the quarterfinals, 61- 49, Mount Si faced #2 Glacier Peak on Friday night.

After shutting out Glacier Peak 11-0 in the first quarter, Mount Si watched Glacier storm back with 23 points in the second quarter, cutting the lead to just three points.

After halftime Mount Si took the momentum back and outscored Glacier Peak 17-9 in the third. The Wildcats never looked back. Powered by their skillful shooting behind the arch, Mount Si came out on top, 62-49.

In the complete team effort Bennett O’Connor contributed three 3-pointers for 9 points; Jabe Mullins scored 6; Hayden Curtiis had 17 points; Quin Patterson scored 14, including four 3-pointers; and Tyler Patterson topped his brother with five 3-pointers and contributed 17 points.

Mount Si faces #4 Central Valley for the state championship Saturday, March 7th at 3PM in the Tacoma Dome. Central Valley knocked off #1 ranked Union 63-55.
