It’s down to Four Candidates to fill vacant Snoqualmie City Council seat

Eleven applicants for vacant Snoqualmie City Council Position No. 4 were interviewed by City Council members at a special public meeting on Monday, September 25th.

The city said via press release that following two hours of interviews, council Members went into an executive session to discuss the interviews. [Prior to interviews each candidate had to fill out a lengthy application and provide a resume.]

Four candidates were chosen to return for a second round of interviews, which will take place at a special public meeting on October 9, 2017 beginning at 5:30PM at Snoqualmie City Hall, 38624 SE River Street.

The four candidates are Colleen Johnson, James Mayhew, Steve Pennington, and Steve Smith.

Councilmember Kathi Prewitt said, “Snoqualmie is truly a special community in that we have so many talented citizens willing to serve in this capacity. We have a very deep pool of candidates in which each would make a significant contribution serving on Council.”

Following the interviews on October 9th, one candidate may be chosen to serve in the vacant position and be sworn in immediately.

This appointment is being made due to the resignation of Brad Toft in late August. The appointed Council Member will serve through the end of the term of Position No. 4, which is December 31, 2019. At that time to continue serving the council member would have to run for election.

Like the first round of interviews, this next special meeting is open to the public, but there will be no opportunity for citizen comments or participation.
