Footloose | Mount Si Drama Premieres Iconic, Teen Dance Drama this Thursday!

For the past few months, over 70 Mount Si High School students have been working long hours to remember lines, learn dances, build sets, practice music, and keep up with school work – all so they can present Footloose!  The Mount Si Drama production of Footloose begins  this Thursday, December 11, 2014. footlooseflier

This 1998 musical based on the 1984 film of the same name, includes all the same hits by Kenny Loggins, Deniece Williams, Eric Carmen and Sammy Hagar.  Footloose was nominated for four Tony Awards for Best Book of a Musical,  Best Original Score, Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical, and  Best Choreography.

The show tells the story of  Ren McCormack (Alex Kilian), an upbeat Chicago teen who moves to a small town in which, as a result of the efforts of a local minister (Cole Van Gerpen), dancing and rock music have been banned against the wishes of the minister’s daughter (Natalie Werner) and her high school friends.

The Mount Si Drama Team, directed by Choir Teacher Haley Isaacs, hopes that everyone will come out to “cut foot-loose!”

The show runs Thursday and Friday evening (7PM) and Saturday (2PM and 7:30PM) in the Mount Si High School Auditorium. Tickets are available in the school office or at the door and cost $10 for the general public or $7 for students/SVSD Staff.

Footloose the Musical is a PG -13 production. It is highly recommend that parents take a moment to read through the reasons for this rating and talk with their child about some of these issues before attending the production.

  • Ironic that this play the high school is putting in is called “Footloose”. A bit of history, did you know that the name if the high school yearbook for North Bend High School back in the 1940’s was called “Footlose”? FYI

  • Retraction, the yearbook name was Lewain, not Footloose, however the North Bend High School in 1944 did also put on the play, “Footloose” and now 70 years later, Mount Si High School is doing it again, that is ironic! sorry for the incorrect information in my previous post.
