First of Two Potent Fall Storms Roll into Valley, North Bend Gets Brunt of Wind

Weather forecasters have been talking about it for days, powerful storms rolling into the Pacific Northwest on Saturday and Sunday – packing a punch with strong winds and heavy rain.

Saturday’s storm seems to have impacted North Bend more than other areas of the Valley with its damaging winds.  At times Saturday, power was out in North Bend and downtown Fall City.

Readers reported downed trees in North Bend in the Circle River Ranch neighborhood, neighborhoods behind Safeway and around 4PM one witness reported SR 202 was closed near North Bend for a downed tree and power pole, with power lines across the road. Police were detouring drivers around the live wires.

That downed power pole caused outages to Mt. Si Road, 120th, Tanner Road and Tannerwood areas of North Bend.  According to Tanner Electric’s website, as of 5:45PM, they were “able to do some switching and bring the power back on.”

The weather station at North Bend Elementary picked up a wind gust of 53MPH as of 5PM, September 28, 2013.  A couple of miles west, Mount Si High School’s weather station recorded a gust of 36MPH.

The winds eased up around 7PM, but it still remained breezy overnight.  Another storm, with potentially stronger winds, is predicted to roll through the area Sunday evening.

If you do experience a power outage, PSE says it is working hard to keep up.  They experienced multiple outages during the storm, with crews working non-stop to restore power.

PSE says it has crews ready to respond for Sunday’s predicted stronger storm.
