Firefighters make special delivery to Homeless Shelter, Two Rivers

Wednesday, January 4, 2017 Snoqualmie Fire Fighters made some important deliveries to help those in need during the chilly winter months.

And this ‘cold weather giving’ was funded by some warm summertime hard week.

Remember when we told you in August that the Snoqualmie Fire Department’s annual – and very popular – Pancake Breakfast was the biggest fundraiser for the Snoqualmie Firefighters Association? [Yes, we did tell you.] Well, that non-profit arm of the SFD helps fund special equipment purchases, community events, public safety, fire education, human services assistance during emergency situations, scholarships, etc.

So this winter the association decided to purchase items to help the Winter Homeless Shelter and Two Rivers students in need. Firefighters purchased and delivered new sleeping bags, hand warmers, blankets, hats, gloves and socks to help folks stay warm – especially important during this recent cold snap.

One of the newest members of the Snoqualmie Fire Department, Matt Mundy, said he’s sure the shelter can always use more supplies than what they delivered today – in case any community members also want to donate.

Stay warm, Snoqualmie Valley!  And special thanks to our local firefighters, too.
