Fire Blotter | unsecured load wreaks havoc on I-90; car ends up on fire, down ravine near North Bend; system problem continually calls crews to storage facility

October 24th

At 7:10AM Snoqualmie Firefighters responded to a second fire alarm at the Snoqualmie Ridge Storage Units covering Building B. On arrival, no fire was found and appeared to be the result of a similar problem with the system as multiple prior incidents. System was reset.

October 25th

Around 12:30PM Snoqualmie Firefighters were dispatched to a report of power wires sparking. Crews spoke with the reporting party who stated a tree branch fell across the power lines causing them to spark. No current fire or sparking observed. Contacted PSE to remove branch.

Around 7PM Snoqualmie Firefighters were dispatched to a fire alarm at a Ridge business. On arrival, crews found the owners had been using a smoke machine indoors for effect, causing the alarm to go off. The room was cleared of smoke and alarm reset.

October 28th

Around 6PM Snoqualmie Firefighters responded to the Hampton Inn for a fire alarm in the bathroom next to the sauna/pool. This is an ongoing issue. Crews arrived to find no signs of fire, contacted building maintenance and he stated it was the same issue as before. Firefighters checked the pool area and reset the alarm.

October 29th

At 5:30PM Snoqualmie Firefighters requested to assist a fall patient who couldn’t stand back up. There were no injuries.

October 30th

At 12:45PM Snoqualmie Firefighters responded with other units to a reported vehicle fire on westbound I-90 near the Preston off-ramp. Original caller advised observing flames from underneath a vehicle on the shoulder.

Units arrived to find Washington State Patrol on scene pushing the vehicle to the shoulder of the road with no obvious signs of fire. A WSP trooper advised the scene actually covered about a 1/4 mile stretch and involved multiple vehicles. Further investigation determined there were no signs of fire and it appears to have been a fallen unsecured load that caused multiple single vehicle incidents. No injuries were reported. All units cleared the scene once WSP presence was enough to cover the call.

November 1st

At 7:50AM Snoqualmie Firefighters responded to a fire alarm at the Snoqualmie Ridge Storage Units covering Building B. On arrival, no fire was found and appeared to be the result of a similar problem with the system as multiple prior incidents. System was reset.

November 3rd

Around 5:15PM Snoqualmie Firefighters were dispatched with several Eastside units to a motor vehicle fire and rescue, on Eastbound I-90 near the North Bend exit. Snoqualmie Firefighters were given fire attack responsibility of a fully involved car fire down in a ravine. Firefighters extinguished the fire using foam.

Around 8:30PM Snoqualmie Firefighters were again called to the Snoqualmie Ridge Storage Units for a fire alarm. No fire detected and alarm reset.

[In addition to the above calls, Snoqualmie EMTs responded to 14 medical aid incidents, bringing the total number of calls to date for 2019 to 1027.]
