Fire Blotter | Airlift Assist; Garage Fire; Fall at the Falls

Here are a few calls the Snoqualmie Fire Department responded to this past week.

October 15th

At 3:43 am Snoqualmie Firefighters dispatched to Snoqualmie Valley Hospital to set up a landing zone for helicopter transport of a cardiac patient. Assisted hospital and airlift staff with loading the patient.             

Later at 9:15 am Snoqualmie Firefighters responded to a detached garage fire in North Bend. Unit was first to arrive and established command. Local firefighters arrived shortly after and extinguished the fire. Property loss value is unknown, but the interior of the unit was destroyed.

October 16th
At 10:18 pm Snoqualmie Firefighters dispatched to a vehicle accident at the roundabout near the Snoqualmie Casino. A single-vehicle had collided with the roundabout, resulting in minor injuries to the three occupants. All three occupants were transported to Overlake Hospital Bellevue.

October 18th
At 12:47 am Snoqualmie Firefighters responded to a report of an 18-month-old coughing and choking. The crew arrived and determined the patient was not in respiratory distress and was left at home with parents.

Later at 12:42 pm, Snoqualmie Firefighters were requested by the Police Department for a medical evaluation of a 27-year-old woman who reported to have swallowed a bag of heroin, prior to arrest. The patient stated she swallowed an open bag containing 3 grams of heroin as they were being pulled over by the police. She stated that’s significantly more than she normally shoots up. The passenger in the vehicle with the patient stated to the Police that the patient is lying and didn’t swallow anything. The patient was examined and showed no signs of a drug overdose. She was alert and able to speak clearly. The patient was released back into the custody of the Police Department.

At 2:47 pm Firefighters dispatched for an adult female who fell while walking down some stairs near the Snoqualmie Falls. The patient stated she was attempting to take a picture when she slipped and fell forward. The patient struck her face on the ground chipping a front tooth and injuring her lip. The patient was examined and chose to go to the ER in her brother’s car.

October 19th
At 1:11 pm Snoqualmie Firefighters responded to a vehicle accident. Arrived to find a single vehicle on the side of the road, on its wheels with airbags deployed, with evidence of a rollover collision. The driver, an 84-year-old male was standing outside of the car, confused, with minor injuries. The crew treated the patient and he was transported to Swedish of Issaquah. The scene was turned over to King County Sheriff’s Office.

October 20th
At 12:29 am Snoqualmie Firefighters dispatched to a report of CO detectors going off throughout the house, called in by the homeowner. The caller stated that the alarms had gone off at least one other time and they had left the house then came home and the detectors activated again. The homeowner advised he secured the propane to the house but didn’t know what else to do. Crews arrived and found a new home (2-years old) with no obvious problems from the exterior. Alarms were sounding and the crew’s CO meter went into alarm immediately as they entered the structure. All sources of gas were shut down and crews ventilated the structure. Advised the homeowner to seek repair of his propane appliances before reigniting any of them.

October 21st
At 2:47 pm Snoqualmie Firefighters dispatched for smoke in the area. On arrival found a homeowner burning yard debris in his back yard. The crew advised the homeowner to extinguish the fire and obtain a permit to burn.

[In addition to the above calls, Snoqualmie EMTs responded to 9 medical aid incidents bringing the total number of calls to 824 for 2020.]
