Fire Blotter | accidental EpiPen injection; three flood water rescue calls; t-bone accident on Falls Ave

January 30th

Around 4PM Snoqualmie Firefighters were dispatched to a 9-year-old male who had self-injected himself with his father’s expired EpiPen. Patient was transported to the emergency room to be evaluated.

January 31st

Around 1:15PM Snoqualmie Firefighters responded to a possible drug overdose. The patient was transported to Snoqualmie Valley Hospital.

Around 9PM Snoqualmie Firefighters were dispatched to a 42-year-old female who had eaten a cannabis edible and was experiencing a rapid heart rate. She was transported to the Snoqualmie Valley Emergency Room.

February 1st

Around 11:45PM Snoqualmie Firefighters responded with other Eastside units to a reported swift water rescue on the South Fork of the Snoqualmie River. Firefighters spoke to several witnesses and found that the patient had already walked away from the riverside and was not in need of medical aid.

Around 2PM Snoqualmie Firefighters along with other units were dispatched to another swift water rescue. The caller stated she was stuck in her vehicle with water up to her waist and unable to get out. The caller advised dispatch that she was in the “river.” Crews arrived to find a single vehicle – mostly off the edge of her driveway – submerged about 2 feet of water. The water was from a wetland, not from the river, and there was no current moving around the vehicle. Crews prepared the kayak and assisted bringing the patient out of the water. She was non-injured and did not want medical aid. The scene was turned over to Snoqualmie PD for further investigation.

Around 6PM Snoqualmie Firefighters responded to a reported vehicle in the water near Pickering Court Apartments. Initial reports were that the driver was still in the vehicle and unable to get out due to the flooded roadway. The patient stated he drove around the barricades because he thought he could get through the flood into the apartment complex to deliver pizza. Firefighters used the kayak and two technicians to do a shallow water crossing to bring the patient back to dry land. No injuries were noted and the scene was turned over to Snoqualmie Police Department for follow-up.

February 2nd

Around 12PM Snoqualmie Firefighters responded with other units to a reported 2-vehicle head-on vehicle accident on the on-ramp to WB I-90 near the casino. Snoqualmie Firefighters were assigned to patient #2 who advised crews he was uninjured, and didn’t want any help. The scene was turned over to the Snoqualmie Police Department

Around 2:45PM Snoqualmie Firefighters were dispatched with other units and Snoqualmie PD for a reported two vehicle head-on accident on Snoqualmie Parkway. Crews arrived to find two vehicles with moderate damage blocking Snoqualmie Parkway. Police officers were on scene advising of three people complaining of minor injuries and requesting evaluation. During triage, Snoqualmie Firefighters updated that count to 5 total patients, all with minor injuries, and 2 refusing any treatment. One patient was transported to Snoqualmie Valley Hospital for evaluation.

February 3rd

Around 2:30PM Snoqualmie Firefighters were dispatched for an electrical smell in a residence. Crews detected an odor of burnt dust and metal on the second floor. The smell seemed to be coming from the cold air return for the furnace. The furnace did not seem to be working appropriately. The homeowner was advised to contact the heating company for repair.

Around 4PM Snoqualmie Firefighters responded to 2 car motor vehicle accident on Falls Avenue. A minivan had t-boned the side of a passenger vehicle. Two patients from the minivan were treated for minor injuries and released at the scene.

Around 7PM Snoqualmie Firefighters were dispatched to a possible chimney fire. On arrival crews found residents out of the house. The homeowner stated they had a fire going in the wood stove when they smelled something burning. He went outside and saw sparks and embers coming out of the chimney. He sprayed some water into the firebox to control the fire. Firefighters found a fire still going strong in the firebox, and sprayed more water inside. The homeowner was advised to have a chimney cleaner come out to inspect and clean the chimney before starting another fire.

February 4th

Around 10:45AM Snoqualmie Firefighters were called to a fire alarm at a day care. The alarm was set off by a child that had pulled the pull station in a play area. The alarm was reset and occupants reentered the building.

February 5th

Around 10:45PM Snoqualmie Firefighters assisted a 72-year-old female who had fallen onto the floor and could not stand up. The patient was not injured.

[In addition to the above calls, Snoqualmie EMTs responded to 14 medical aid incidents bringing the total number of calls to 127 for 2020].
