Good News! Guardrail Being Installed on Meadowbrook Way, Along Winding Section Between 202 and 384th

It’s something I’ve always hoped for, especially when I drive Meadowbrook in the dark and/or in bad weather:  a guardrail.  This stretch of winding road between Highway 202 and North Bend Way can be treacherous, especially for those unfamiliar with it.  It has little to no shoulder, as well as steep embankments, some of them falling into swampy areas.

Renton firefighter, Joshua Baker, died in November 2010 on Meadowbrook Way when his truck left the road and crashed into a tree.  The 33-year-old was traveling north between North Bend Way and Railroad Ave when his vehicle crossed the center lane and went over an embankment.

Starting tomorrow, July 31st, the City of Snoqualmie, will add guardrails to make the area safer for drivers.  Protective guardrails  will be installed along Meadowbrook Way SE between State Route 202 (Railroad Ave SE) and 384th Ave SE, near Snoqualmie Valley Hospital and North Bend Way.

One lane of roadway will be open at all times (with traffic control) during work hours, 7AM through 5PM.  The project is expected to last four days.  Drivers may experience some traffic congestion, but it’s for a good cause – safety!
