Fiery, fatal accident closes SR 202 near Tolt Hill Road for seven hours Wednesday afternoon

A fiery, fatal collision closed a two-mile section SR 202 just east of Tolt Hill Road for over seven hours on Wednesday, September 5, 2018.

According to the Washington State Patrol, (WSP), a Honda CRV was traveling eastbound around 11:40AM when it crossed the centerline and collided with a dump truck and trailer in the westbound lane. The collision caused the truck to burst into flames, which spread to the nearby hillside. Firefighters responded and extinguished the fire.

The SUV landed on its side on the eastbound guardrail and the 56-year old female driver from Redmond was pronounced deceased at the scene. The dump truck also landed on its side, blocking both lanes. The 26-year old truck driver from Snoqualmie was taken to Overlake Medical Center with minor injuries.

SR 202 was closed in both direction near the accident scene for a little over seven hours while detectives completed their fatality accident investigation and the scene was cleaned up.

The WSP accident report did not state what caused the driver to cross the center lane.
