Oh how things can quickly turn around. One local business was facing closure, but thanks to a little bit of community help, they’re now growing and excited for the future.
This month, a familiar Center Street business – Big Star Studios – will be moving, relocating from the Snoqualmie Ridge retail area into the nearby Business Park just across Snoqualmie Parkway. Big Star has been in its current spot for over five years.
In February, Big Star was facing a possible closure when the owners learned their landlord was not renewing their lease and available, affordable studio space was proving difficult to find. Thanks to the community, though, the owners were connected with a new Business Park landlord who had a spot that offered more space at a better rate.
As of June 19th, Big Star Studios will soon have 4,000 sq. ft of space, compared to the current 1,500 sq. ft – in the Venture Commerce Buildings at 8104 Bracken PL SE. This means they will soon have four private music instruction rooms and two full studios – double that of the Center Street location.
Owner Corey Mosey is excited for the unexpected growth opportunity. She said the performing arts studio will be adding programming, like a new viola and violin instructor; a new art program with elementary, middle and high school art classes; once a month Parents Night Out; Strings Ensemble; Acapella group classes and more.
One of the biggest additions, though, is the launch of a new preschool: Little Stars Preschool will offer a new Snoqualmie Valley preschool and Pre K option for kids 3-6 years old. Corey, along with Michel Frerker, will be instructing. Both are certified K-8 teachers, with a combined 20+ years of experience.
There will also be expanded adult exercise options like ‘Gravity Ninja,’ an ariel arts training program that uses silks, floor work and trapeze, and boot camp will be added six days a week starting in mid June.
The build out of the new Big Star Studios space is almost complete – and a sign should be going up soon. For more information visit www.bigstarstudios.com.
Good Luck Big Star Studios!
[And if you’re wondering what will be taking their spot on Center Street – sounds like a daycare will occupy both the old Remax and Big Star spots.]
