SUMMARY:The Black Dog Arts Cafe Snoqualmie-Queer Open Mic
DESCRIPTION:The Black Dog Arts Cafe Snoqualmie-Queer Open Mic \nDecember 20th \nDoors open\, and performer sign-up starts at 6 pm. The show at 7 pm\n\nJoin us for a cozy evening of creativity\, community\, and great food as we gather on one of the year’s longest nights by showcasing LGBTQIA+ artists from the Snoqualmie Valley.\n\nWe invite musicians\, poets\, comedians\, drag performers\, dancers\, and visual artists to share their work on stage with us in a supportive and uplifting environment. A projection screen will showcase photography\, digital art\, and other visual mediums.\nEveryone will have 10-15 minutes to perform\, depending on attendance.\n\nCome hungry and explore our delicious vegan and vegetarian menu!\nhttps://www.blackdogsnoqualmie.com/menu-2/\n\nOur featured artist this month is poet Laila Vafaeezadeh:\nLaila (she/her) was born and raised in the greater Seattle area\, and some of her first memories are the overwhelming green of towering evergreen trees and the yipping howls of backyard coyotes. Surrounded by nature as a child\, she roved the forests\, collecting\, mapping\, and sometimes simply observing.\n\nLaila always knew that she would grow up to be a writer from the time she was old enough to hold a pencil and scribble out an incomprehensible story on paper. It was her driving passion\, and it shaped her as she grew. She devoured books of all kinds\, finding edification and solace in the works of Gerald Durrell\, Anne Rice\, Carl Hiaasen\, Daniel Quinn\, and James Herriot.\n\nAs an adult\, Laila is an animal lover\, having worked with dogs and other pets for nearly a decade. She is a collector of many strange and interesting things and adores beauty in all its forms\, be it interior design or the scent of a custom perfume. She seeks the interesting\, the odd\, and the splendid in all she does- though the written word will always be her first love.
