SUMMARY:Mountains to Sounds Greenway Trust Materials Mobilization at Middle Fork Trail
DESCRIPTION:Materials Mobilization at Middle Fork Trail\n\nDate & Time: Friday\, June 13\, 2025 | 9 am-3 pm\nLocation: Middle Fork Trailhead\nEvent Overview\n\n\nWe need your help to keep Washington trails safe and accessible this summer! The Middle Fork Trail has a number of structures that are in need of repair\, including bridges and boardwalks. This event will involve mobilizing materials for repairs to those structures.\n\nMaintaining these structures is critical to keep the trail open for hikers\, bikers\, and equestrian users\, as well as to protect water quality and prevent erosion. \nMost of the work is more than 1.5 miles from the trailhead\, so come ready to hike! \n\nDifficultyModerate to StrenuousAge RestrictionAges 14 and up.What to BringFor safety\, volunteers are required to wear: \n\nLong pants (we’ll be working with tools\, so no shorts!)\nSturdy\, close-toed shoes (absolutely no sandals)\nGloves\n\nIn addition\, we recommend that participants bring: \n\nWarm layers\, especially during the fall\, winter\, and spring\nRain gear\nBig sack lunch\nWater for the day (3 liters minimum)\nSmall daypack for lunch\, extra layers\, etc.\n\nDriving DirectionsVolunteers will meet and park at the Middle Fork trailhead: https://goo.gl/maps/VGyjGdSvq5o \nThere will be no cell reception at the Middle Fork Trailhead. \nFrom Seattle\, drive east on I-90 to exit 34 (Edgewick Road). Turn left (north) onto 468th Ave SE and follow it to the junction with the Middle Fork Snoqualmie Road (Forest Road 56). Turn right and continue up the Middle Fork Snoqualmie Road for 11.8 miles to the Middle Fork trailhead parking area on the right. Look for Greenway signs and staff. \nAdditional InformationThe Middle Fork Trailhead is a popular starting point for hiking and outdoor recreation\, located in the Middle Fork Snoqualmie Valley in Mount Baker Snoqualmie National Forest. Renowned for its stunning natural beauty\, the area features dense forests\, rivers\, waterfalls\, and mountain views. \nFrom the Middle Fork Trailhead one can set out on a number of trails leading to mountain peaks\, hidden lakes\, or old-growth forests. The Middle Fork Trail crosses a unique arched beam cable-hung bridge\, meanders through mature second-growth forests interspersed with old-growth remnants\, and extends into the upper Middle Fork Valley and the Alpine Lakes Wilderness. \nThe Greenway recently completed upgrades to this site in 2024 as part of a larger slate of projects aimed at improving sustainable recreation in the Middle Fork.
