The announcement, shared by EF-R on February 19, marks the conclusion of Lane’s 31-year career with the department.

“Serving our communities has been the honor of a lifetime, offering opportunities and experiences far beyond anything I could have imagined when my career began,” said Chief Lane. “I extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone in this department – past and present – who have inspired, challenged, and supported me throughout my career.”

Lane remains dedicated to EF-R’s success and is focused on ensuring a smooth transition in leadership.

“By providing this early retirement notice, I hope to support the timeline necessary for the department to thoughtfully determine who will serve as its next Fire Chief, ensuring a smooth leadership transition,” he said.

As he prepares to leave his role, Lane will continue to lead EF-R through the remainder of the year, offering guidance and stability to the department he has served for over three decades.
