Dont Forget! North Bend Farmer’s Market and Snoqualmie Y’s Get Movin’ Program Both Kick Off Tomorrow, June 14th

The weather may not seem summer-like yet, but a sure sign that it’s not far off is the start of the North Bend Farmer’s Market season at Si View Park, 400 SE Orchard Drive in North Bend.  That summer market season kicks off Thursday, June 14th.

The North Bend Farmers Market serves the greater Snoqualmie Valley community, bringing together local farmers, artisans and shoppers with a weekly, open-air market throughout the summer.  Market hours are 4:00PM-8:00PM every Thursday through September 13th.  Check out www.facebook.com/NorthBendFarmersMarket for the latest market updates.

This year’s market features fresh-picked produce, fruits and berries, locally raised beef, honey, fresh-cut flower bouquets, specialty products and a unique selection of handmade arts & crafts.  Market-goers can make an evening of it – shopping, dinner and live music.  Hermosa Mexican Foods is adding tacos to their menu this summer; Panda Catering’s Asian fare has joined the market; there’s variety of freshly baked breads; and, of course, the famous Hawaiian shaved ice.

The North Bend Farmer’s Market summer concert series also continues this year.  The free, outdoor concerts are held from 6-7:30PM each Thursday.  You can check the market’s Facebook page for the concert schedule.

The Snoqualmie YMCA is also launching its Get Movin” Program at tomorrow’s Famer’s Market.  The Get Movin’ program was established in 2004 by a community partnership of public and private agencies to combat youth obesity in Snohomish County. It has grown into a broad-based community coalition to help improve the health of Snohomish & King County residents.

The all-ages, free summer program encourages families to improve their health by adopting a more active, healthy lifestyle using physical and recreational activities.

The Get Movin’ program has three easy steps:

STEP 1: Get Movin’ – Be physically active 60 minutes a day at least five days a week, all summer long.

STEP 2: Keep Track – Stay on track and mark your progress on the Playbook calendar.

STEP 3: Reward Yourself – Use a reward coupon each week that you meet the goal.

Families can register for Get Movin’ kick-off event at the Get Movin’ Zone at North Bend Farmer’s Market.  Participants will receive a Get Movin’ Playbook at registration, which includes program details, a tracking calendar, reward coupons and a t-shirt while supplies last.
