Reinig Road Shooting, Deputy Fires at Snoqualmie Man After He Attempts to Hit Her With Van

Around  2:00AM, Thursday, September 19, 2013, a King County Sheriff’s deputy shot a 35-year old Snoqualmie man after he tried to hit her with his van.

The suspect suffered a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the head and was transported to Harborview Medical Center.  The deputy, a seven year veteran, was uninjured.

Deputies who work the Snoqualmie area are very familiar with the suspect. Overnight, a deputy tried to arrest the naked suspect from the same van on outstanding arrest warrants, but the man fled in his vehicle.  Deputies pursued, but ended the chase when it led to a heavily forested area.

Later that night, two deputies located the suspect’s vehicle at SE Reinig RD and 428th AVE SE.  When the they approached the van, they saw the suspect inside.  The man drove his van at one of the officers, which led to at least one shot being fired at the driver.

The suspect, who was alone, crashed his van about 50 feet from the initial contact and was then arrested.  Part of  Reinig Road was closed while police investigated.

As is standard practice, the deputy will be placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation being conducted by the King County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes detectives.
