Body Recovered from Base of Snoqualmie Falls

A sunny spring morning turned sad at Snoqualmie Falls Park, Wednesday, April 9, 2014.

The King County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) received a call from Snoqualmie Police around 11:20AM, April 9th, requesting King County Search and Rescue crews conduct a recovery mission at Snoqualmie Falls.

KCSO Sergeant Cindi West said Snoqualmie Police were called to the scene first, when a deceased female was discovered about 200 feet below Snoqualmie Falls in a rocky area at the base. West could not elaborate on the cause of death or age of the woman.

Recovery missions are notoriously tough for local search and rescue volunteers.  Volunteers from Seattle Mountain Rescue and King County Search and Rescue collaborated on this mission, which involved propelling down the unstable vertical rock wall right next to Snoqualmie Falls for the litter hoist recovery.

On their Facebook page, Seattle Mountain Rescue expressed their deepest sympathies to family and friends of the deceased.
