All the warm weather is keeping local fire crews busy – helping get folks enjoying the Snoqualmie River back to shore safely.
Wednesday, July 5, 2017, was another busy day, as crews responded to the river near Fall City twice, including an after dark rescue when a group floating the river became stuck on a sandbar.
The first rescue happened earlier in the evening and involved a group of floaters stuck on a fallen tree in the river. According to KOMO News, a swift water rescue boat was required to get one person to shore.
Then around 10PM, the other group was rescued off of a sand bar. Reports say this incident possibly involved a float tube popping and the group of seven teens not estimating how long the river float trip would take. Duvall and Snoqualmie Fire Departments responded to the incident.
All of the people were safely rescued. The river is expected to stay busy with floaters as weather is predicted to stay in the mid 70’s to mid 80’s for the next few days.
