[This is an update to 10/29/14 story] Search and rescue crews from King, Pierce and Snohomish Counties continued the search for the missing man in the Rattlesnake Ridge area, Thursday, October 30, 2014. Unfortunately, the mission did not have a happy ending.
Seattle Mountain Rescue stated via their Facebook page, that they “helped bring down the missing hiker from the Rattlesnake Ridge area today. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.”
The Renton Police Department said Mr. Ie’s body was located by search and rescue crews in the Rattlesnake Ridge area, and that his family was notified.
ORIGINAL STORY: Tuesday, October 28, 2014, the Renton Police Department asked for the public’s help in locating a missing 42-year old man, Teang Ie, who suffers from mental health issues.
Mr. le was last seen Monday, October 27th, around 5:30AM in the 4300 block of SE 4th Street in Renton. His vehicle was later located Monday evening in the Rattlesnake Ridge area near North Bend.
Ie is described as an Asian male, 5’6″ tall and 145lbs, with brown eyes and black hair. Anyone who has seen Teang Ie or has information about his whereabouts, is asked to call 9-1-1 or contact the Renton Police Department at 425-430-7500, referencing case number 14-12187.
Search and rescue unit, the Regional Special Vehicles Unit (RSVU), reported via social media that it was called out Tuesday night, October 28th, by the King County Sheriff’s Office to do a hasty search for a lost hiker.
RSVU searched the Rattlesnake area in the pouring rain Tuesday night and were back out again Wednesday morning with SAR crews. They searched all day without locating the missing hiker, but will continue the search efforts Thursday, October 30th, along with out-of-county search and rescue resources.
RSVU is a volunteer, non-profit organization, based in King County, WA, specializing in mobile search and rescue operations in terrain that would not be passable by conventional vehicles.
