Covid Outbreak at Assisted Living/Senior Apartment Facility in North Bend: 10 positive residents, 10 positive staff, 1 positive visitor, and 1 death

Reports surfaced recently that Red Oak Residence of North Bend was having a Coronavirus outbreak.

According to a Communications Specialist for Public Health – Seattle & King County, it has been reported to them that they have 10 positive residents, 10 positive staff and 1 positive visitor (this person reportedly did not enter the facility but interacted with a resident)

There is one reported COVID-related resident death connected with this outbreak and one person was hospitalized.

The Department of Health is working with the facility on testing and infection control measures and will update information as they know more.

According to the City of North Bend– “Over the past two weeks (12/22/20-1/4/21), 58 new cases were reported in North Bend, with a 25.7% positive test rate. 5 hospitalizations and one death were also reported during this time period. The City’s 14-day positive test rate is more than double that of the King County rate of 10.9%. The City also currently has the highest rate of positive cases of all King County cities at 849 cases per 100,000 residents.”

During the last month, 88 new cases were reported in North Bend, a 51% monthly increase. Of those cases, the majority (86%) were in people under 60. The outbreak at Red Oak is a small part of a larger community spread.
