Construction of New Roundabout Near Dahlgren Property expected to begin July 20th

Construction of a new privately funded roundabout at the intersection of SE North Bend Way and 436th Ave SE is scheduled to begin the week of July 20th.

Contractor crews working for Cedar River Partners – which is developing a new 212-unit apartment complex on the nearby former Dahlgren property – will be building the roundabout to mitigate future traffic impacts at this critical intersection.

Construction of the new roundabout will require 436th Ave SE to be closed between North Bend Way and just north of SE Cedar Falls Way during several construction phases. Local access for residents residing along 436th will be provided. Detour routes will be clearly marked along North Bend Way and Cedar Falls Way in the project area.

Additionally, the west end of SE Tanner Road at 436th Ave SE will be permanently closed while the roundabout is built. As part of the project, a new access road will be constructed approximately 400 feet east of the current intersection of 436th Ave SE and SE North Bend Way to connect the west end of SE Tanner Road to SE North Bend Way.

Traffic control will be provided at all times during roundabout construction. Drivers should anticipate single-lane closures and short delays. The city of North Bend and Unincorporated King County residents living east of 436th Ave SE/Exit 32 are encouraged to utilize I-90 and 468th Ave SE/Exit 34 as an alternate route to reduce construction-related delays.

Residents of the immediate project vicinity should anticipate noise and vibration during construction. Completion of the new roundabout is tentatively scheduled for October.

The City apologizes for any inconveniences caused by this traffic improvement project and thanks residents for their patience and understanding.

Questions about the roundabout project may be sent to Brian Tucker at btucker@northbendwa.gov.
