How Cold in the Valley? So Cold the Home Stands at Mount Si Stadium Closed

Saturday, December 7, 2013, at 7AM and it was 10 degrees at Mount Si High School.  It was 11 degrees on Snoqualmie Ridge and 14 degrees at North Bend Elementary.

That’s cold – and it is supposed to be even colder tonight after high temperatures in the mid-twenties this afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.thermometer

By Tuesday, though, the Snoqualmie Valley should make it above freezing – right as some light moisture makes it back into weather forecast, which includes a slight chance of snow.

But for the remainder of the weekend, it’s just plain cold.  How cold?  So cold the home stands at Mount Si High School’s Wildcat Stadium are closed to local soccer families during weekend games.

Mount Si High School officials have deemed the home side bleaches off limits due to unsafe, extremely icy, conditions. The away bleachers, which get more sun, are open for spectators, though.

If you have pipes that are exposed to cold air (attics, crawl space, etc.), it could be a good idea to leave faucets serviced by those pipes slowly dripping.  Remember to bring your pets indoors and keep those layers on if outdoors for extended periods of time.

Enjoy the sunny skies – even if accompanied by cold, very dry conditions.
