City of Snoqualmie Says Downtown Construction Done by Late July, Leaving Historic Downtown with Whole New Look

The City of Snoqualmie announced Tuesday, June 24, 2015 that its Downtown Infrastructure and Improvement Project will be completed in late July, bringing ‘light to the end of the tunnel’ for many downtown businesses affected by a year of constant construction, traffic backups and limited parking.

The improvement project that will transform the look of the historic downtown core began in June 2014 and was initially estimated to be done in May 2015, but unexpected delays with some utility infrastructure replacement work slowed construction. In March, city officials thought the work would be finished by late June.

Via press release the city stated that intermittent one-lane traffic will continue Monday through Friday, 7AM to 5PM until the project is finally completed. Motorists might experience delays and are encouraged to use alternate routes – Millpond Road is a good substitute.

A large section of Railroad Ave was prepared for new surfacing over the weekend and the ensuing road paving is scheduled to be completed on Tuesday, June 24th.

The following work is scheduled to be completed by July 17th:

  • Boardwalk and information kiosk installation
  • Sidewalk installation
  • Energizing electrical system and street lighting installation
  • Landscaping irrigation lines installation
  • Tree and planter installation
  • Pavement striping
  • Road sign installation

Public parking is available at the following locations:

  • Parking lot at the corner of King St
  • Parking lot at SE Fir St accessible via SE Northern St
  • Parking lot at United Methodist Church (except on Sunday)
  • Front-angle parking along Railroad Ave SE in front of the church
  • Front-angle and parallel parking along Falls Ave E
  • Some parallel parking along Railroad Ave SE
