City Launches Holiday Spirit Contest: Light up North Bend, Prizes Support Local Businesses

The City of North Bend invites residents to help them LIGHT UP NORTH BEND this holiday season.

The city recognizes things are different this year – that our traditional holiday events are being dramatically limited by the pandemic. But that doesn’t mean we can’t show our community holiday spirit in a new way.

Enter North Bend’s inaugural lighting contest: LIGHT UP NORTH BEND – A HOLIDAY SPIRIT CONTEST.

There are 4 Divisions: Single-family home; Multi-family home (apartment, condo, townhome); Business; Neighborhood.

There are 3 categories within the Single-family; Multi-family and Business Divisions:

  • VMA: Best Use of Music
  • Hollywood: Best Theme
  • Griswold: Best ‘Overuse’ of Lights (channel your inner Clark)

The Neighborhood Division winner will be chosen based on the largest number of homes decked out for the season.

Registration deadline is December 6th. Participating homes and businesses must be decorated and ready by December 12th at 5PM as judging will occur that evening by representatives of the North Bend Downtown Foundation.

And they haven’t forgotten prizes. The Neighborhood division winner will get bragging rights, as well as a video celebrating that spirited neighborhood distributed on social media and to media outlets.

The winners of each category in the Single-Family, Multi-Family and Business Divisions will receive a $50 gift card to the North Bend business of their choosing.

Lastly, the holiday fun won’t end once the winners are announced. After the judging is complete, the city will compile a downloadable map for community distribution so that residents may do a Light Up North Bend Holiday Spirit Drive and tour all the twinkling, decorated homes that participated.

It’s easy to participate. Register using this short, fillable PDF form HERE and submit it to dmccall@northbendwa.gov.

Now… what are you waiting for? It’s time to LIGHT UP NORTH BEND!

P.S. Watch for lights going up on City Hall soon. They’re ready to show some holiday spirit, too.
