Snoqualmie Police Department Offers Self Defense Course
A women’s self-defense course is being offered by the Snoqualmie Police Department for females age 16 and above who live or work in Snoqualmie and North Bend.
The course is taught using the nationally-recognized Rape Aggression Defense System (R.A.D.) and is dedicated to teaching defensive concepts and techniques against various types of assault by using easy, effective and proven self-defense tactics.
The course includes participation in hands-on self-defense methods, as well as instruction for crime prevention, risk reduction and avoidance. Certified instructors, Officer Nigel Draveling and Shelley Rowe, will teach the course.
Participants must attend all four classes for a total of twelve hours. Classes will be held at the Cascade Covenant Church, 13225 436th Ave SE in North Bend on the following nights:
- Wednesday, September 16th, 6PM–9PM
- Thursday, September 17th, 6PM-9PM
- Wednesday, September 23rd, 6PM-9PM
- Thursday, September 24th, 6PM-9PM

Snoqualmie Fire Station Offers CPR Training
The City of Snoqualmie will offer a CPR class on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 from 6PM – 9PM at the Snoqualmie Fire Station,
37600 SE Snoqualmie Parkway. The class will be taught to the American Heart Association standards.
Upon finishing the class, students will receive a certification card valid for two years. The class fee is $10. To register for the class, contact Liz Luizzo at lluizzo@ci.snoqualmie.wa.us or call 425-888-1551 by October 8th.

Emergency Response Training Open to the Public
Interested in learning how to help your family and neighbors in the event of a crisis? The cities of Snoqualmie and North Bend are offering the FEMA-certified Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program where participants will be trained to perform important emergency response techniques.
The course starts on Saturday, October 3rd, at the Snoqualmie Fire Station,37600 SE Snoqualmie PKWY and is open to all Snoqualmie Valley residents.
In this course, citizens are trained on how to save lives, protect property and operate safely in post-disaster environments. Classes are taught by a partnership between the Snoqualmie Fire Department, Eastside Fire & Rescue, and community volunteers on the following dates:
- Saturday, October 3red, 9AM. – 11:3AM, then noon to 3PM.
- Saturday, October 10th, 9AM – 11:30AM, then noon – 3PM
- Saturday, October 24th, 9AM – 11:30AM, then noon – 3PM.
- Saturday, October 31st, 9AM – 11:30AM, then noon – 3PM(drill)
Participants will have the opportunity to learn techniques in fire suppression, search and rescue, disaster psychology and disaster medical operations, including triage techniques, patient assessment, and treating life-threatening injuries. The course concludes with a disaster simulation and drill.
The course fee is $25 per person and is fully refundable upon completion of all classes. The fee includes equipment, a student manual, and CERT kit consisting of a Field Operation Guide, hard hat, safety vest, backpack, goggles, gloves, flashlight, whistle, triage tape,and hand-sanitizing gel.
