Cherry de Pon Says Farewell: A Letter to the Community

To the Snoqualmie Valley Community,

In 2012, I drove my friend to the Snoqualmie Ridge and introduced her to this lovely neighborhood I had stumbled across from a day trip to Snoqualmie Falls. Less than 6 months later, Cherry de Pon Yogurt opened on Center Blvd.

My friend, the original owner, had wanted to close in 2015. I asked for the opportunity to continue the business. I was able to take over the lease and have been running it ever since. I still think it’s ironic how the shop ended up with me because I found the location years ago. It never crossed my mind I would one day become its owner. I’m proud to be a Vietnamese-American woman small business owner of a brick and mortar.  

I had the chance to make the shop my own over the years and am proud to maintain an excellent food rating/health inspection each year. I pride myself on creating a happy, healthy, and fun environment for customers and employees.

I introduced my own ice cream recipes for Taro and Vietnamese Coffee and the very popular Dole Pineapple Soft-Serve, which became fast favorites in the community. I love curating the dessert topping bar too!

I know a lot of people will wonder why I am making the decision to close. It’s because I’m now 33 years old; my husband and I really want to focus on starting our family. I have commuted from Renton to Snoqualmie over the past 5 years and devoted much time to this business. I’m ready to give myself time to focus on me. It’s bittersweet to close a company I’ve built up, but I’m confident it is the best decision for my husband and me. We are excited to start a new chapter.

We have the most amazing customers. You came to support us and neighboring small businesses by buying gift cards right before we had to close because of the pandemic. Most of our gift cards have been redeemed over the Summer months, but I want to make sure every single gift and punch card is used before closing our doors on November 22nd. I care about our customers who have supported CDP over the years. I would also like it if everyone who wanted to come got the chance to visit one last time. It’s a nostalgic place for many customers, especially our younger ones. I had a customer tell me they used to come here when they were little, and it makes me laugh. 🙂

I have seen many kids grow up working at the yogurt shop – it’s been a joy.

We are participating in the Quarantine-O-Ween Triple Treat Trek on October 31st from Noon to 6 pm. We will be giving away over two hundred treat grab bags for the kids and families coming out for the event. 

If there’s one word to describe CDP, I would say its happiness. Cake Batter is the most popular, and trust me, that froyo flavor alone delivers so much joy to so many people.

I hope to continue to make everyone’s day a little bit better up when they come in until our last day. I will miss the smiles and laughter of our customers the most.
