Carnation Farmers Market Moves to King County’s Tolt-MacDonald Park for the 2023 Season

Celebrate 20 years of community nourishment with Carnation Farmers Market (CFM) as it embarks on an exciting new chapter at King County’s Tolt-MacDonald Park for the 2023 season.

CFM is thrilled to announce its move to this centrally located, larger venue, which offers ample parking, shaded areas, a large covered shelter, and plenty of recreational opportunities, including hiking trails, a riverfront beach, a playground, and a spacious lawn.

“Carnation Farmers Market is grateful to King County Parks for this collaboration,” said Lindsay Gilliam, CFM Executive Director, “which ensures the stability of our community’s farmers market, allowing the CFM team to focus on providing a thriving farmers market with locally-produced food, entertainment, and activities for all ages.”

Gilliam said community support is the key to keeping the market alive and thriving. “Volunteers, donors, and sponsors have been the backbone of CFM since it became an independent nonprofit in 2020. Attendance and sales have continued to grow, even with challenges like construction near the Market, the pandemic, and having to found a new organization. This is thanks to the dedication of our local community of farmers, vendors, and eaters.”

King County works to support farmers, protect farmland and increase access to healthy, affordable food through Executive Dow Constantine’s Local Food Initiative. King County Parks Director Warren Jimenez said, “King County strongly believes in connecting local farmers and communities, and we are pleased to be able to support the Carnation Farmers Market. Tolt-MacDonald is a natural setting for CFM, in both senses of the word!”

CFM is increasing publicity to encourage people to attend Market every Tuesday, starting with Opening Day on June 6th, and to get involved in other ways like making a recurring monthly donation, volunteering, or partnering with their organization. With continued support from the community, the CFM team says they can keep this vital community hub alive and thriving for years to come.

This season, CFM is open Tuesdays 3-7 pm in June, July, and August, except for July 4th. For more information, visit carnationfarmersmarket.org, or contact Market Manager Shana Amador at cfm.hello@gmail.com.
