Car Fire on I-90 Near Preston Slows Evening Commute

If you were traveling on I-90 near Preston last evening, April 22, 2013, you might have been greeted by black smoke billowing into the sunny, blue skies as a car fire erupted, hampering the evening commute for some Valley residents.

Snoqualmie resident, Jessica Self, took pictures of the scene as firefighters from Eastside Fire and Rescue Engine 71 in downtown Issaquah responded to the fire at approximately 6:30PM on eastbound I-90.

Jessica said the car was on the right roadway shoulder and “people were standing outside another car when firemen started the hoses on the fire. Black smoke was everywhere.”

All but one lane of traffic was closed approaching the Preston/Fall City exit, near milepost 22, so firefighters could extinguish the fire in the sedan-type vehicle.
