Car Cracks Power Pole in Half, Cuts Power to Quiet Neighborhood, Citations issued

Residents say a serious car accident in the Brookside Acres neighborhood of North Bend knocked out power and isolated residents most of Saturday, June 4, 2016.

Around noon residents say a car was leaving the neighborhood and did not make the near 90 degree turn at the corner on SE 136th, and hit a utility pole straight on, cracking it in half.

Residents said the car’s occupants had been at a home in the neighborhood where the parents were out-of-town at the time.

According to King County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) Sergeant Jason Houck, deputies responded to the home Saturday afternoon, with one person being taken to detox and cited for Vandalism and Minor in Possession. Sgt. Houck also said the teenage resident of the home is “well-known” to police officers.

PSE crews were on scene most of Saturday, with the power out to the entire neighborhood for eight hours.
