Business Goings: Downtown Gift Store to get new name, new owner; inventory sell off starts May 5th

It’s been over 2 1/2 years since Peggy Meyers opened Corners Gift Shop on Railroad Ave in downtown Snoqualmie, and although she says she’s loved the experience and the community support, her life is taking a different turn – one moving in the direction of not working every day (common for many small business owners) and then retirement with husband Ron.

So Peggy is turning over the helm – and the keys – to a new owner, which means “some change is a brewin’.”

Next month, Corners will become Carousel Gift Shop, which is relocating from its Samammish Plateau location where it had been anchored for nearly three decades.

Carousel closed in Sammamish last week and in mid June will re-open in downtown Snoqualmie, filling the historic retail space with new inventory and a new face behind the counter.

But the space will forever have Peggy and Ron’s stamp on it.

In case you didn’t know, Peggy and Ron spent months transforming the historic, former electronics store/hair salon/vintage shop into the welcoming space it is now. Salon stations were removed, rustic wood floors were restored, new baseboards, paint, window displays and a custom-built counter were all added. Think of it like a 2015 episode of Fixer Upper… minus a ship-lap discovery behind the walls.

But it’s time to move on says Peggy – and part of moving on includes an inventory liquidation sale since the new owner is bringing along new inventory.

Starting Saturday, May 5th at 9AM, [almost] everything at Corners will be marked down at least 25%.  Peggy said just how long Corners will remain open is something she is playing by ear. The decision depends how fast the inventory sells.

It is certain, though, that the store will be closed by the end of May and then will reopen in mid June as Carousel Gift Shop.

Good Luck, Peggy and welcome to the Snoqualmie Valley, Carousel!

  • Love Corners and have enjoyed having a cute gift shop so close. BUT, I’m equally happy to know that Carrousel will take over the space – they never disappoint!
