Business Comings & Goings: Coffee hub closing; Frankie’s, MOD, Iron Duck, Safeway fuel opening dates; plus more

It sure seems there is a lot happening on the business front in the Snoqualmie Valley. And luckily, most of it is good in this latest edition of ‘Comings & Goings.’

SnoValley Coffee Closing

Let’s get the bad news out-of-the-way first. Unfortunately, SnoValley Coffee announced it will be closing its doors at end of October. The owner said via Facebook that she had a heavy heart about the closing and worries she’d let the community down. She encouraged everyone to come in and support the baristas until the end of the month.  Good Luck, Jacqui. I truly enjoyed sipping coffee and working at your tables.

Love Bug Pet Grand Opening

Love Bug Pet Boutique opened in July, and  will be having their official Grand Opening event on Saturday, October 21st from 11AM – 2PM. The event will feature pet games, free raffles, appetizers and live music by the Redondoes.

New Barbershop Owner, Bijia

A landmark in downtown Snoqualmie, the Railroad Ave barbershop is under new owenship. The Station Barbershop is now called Bijia’s Just Cut – and according to the sign, men women and kids can all stop in for a trim.

Snoqualmie Falls Candy Shoppe

Snoqualmie Falls Candy Factory and Cafe on Railroad Ave is soon becoming Snoqualmie Falls Candy Shoppe. The store is currently closed while it gets remodeled.

A new sign recently went up and according to their Facebook page, the owners are very excited to reveal the changes when they open this month.  Candy, ice cream, food – oh, and vintage video games, too, complete with PacMan and pinball.

Frankie’s Pizza

No longer just a North Bend pizza staple. Snoqualmie Valley native Chris Garcia is opening a new Snoqualmie location on Wednesday, October 18th.

This will be the 6th Frankie’s store. The new Snoqualmie Frankie’s is located on Center Blvd in the Snoqualmie Ridge retail area. The number is 425-448-2000.

Safeway Gas Station

Ready for the construction to be done on the Snoqualmie Safeway fuel station so the parking lot is easier to navigate?

Well, it’s happening soon. According to Safeway employees, the fuel station will have its grand opening on October 25th.  Crews have been putting the final landscaping touches on the area all week-long.

MOD Pizza

MOD is currently slated to open November 17th barring any last minute construction or permitting issues. They’ll hold a ribbon cutting at 11:50AM and doors will open at Noon.

The first 52 guests that day will receive free pizza or salad. MOD says 100% of all pizza proceeds on opening day will be donated to a local non-profit. (That non-profit has not been determined yet, though.)

MOD says they’re still hiring for this location and will be holding a job fair at the store on Oct 28th – 29th from 10AM-4PM.  MOD says it pays competitive wages, offer benefits and flexible scheduling (must be 18).

The 2,500 sq. ft. store will be open 7 days/week. Exact hours are still being worked out, but probably will be approximately 10:30AM – 10PM.

Dr. Chang opened his new Snoqualmie practice in September, on the second floor of a Snoqualmie Ridge retail building on Center Blvd – above Ana’s Mexican Restaurant and Anytime Fitness.

Iron Duck Public House – North Bend

The Iron Duck Public House is slated to open on November 7th in the former Brickyard Brewery space at the corner of North Bend Way and Main Street.

Compass Outdoor Adventures expands its offerings to Beer

No longer just offering bike rides and other outdoor adventures, Compass Outdoor Adventures has a new addition inside its 1st floor location at the corner of North Bend Way and Bendigo Blvd.

Inside the historic building, you can now grab a seat and have a cold beer.  Owner Luke Talbott said they hope to become a “Happy Hour Adventure Hub.”

Compass obtained a liquor license with the idea that folks could take a long bike ride and then enjoy a cold beer afterward – or watch a new outdoor film production with refreshments.

Talbott said the new business expansion has gone over well.  Hours are Thursday and Friday, 4PM – 8PM; Saturday, 12PM – 8PM; Sunday, 12PM – 4/5PM.
