Lula Ruby Salon owner Angela Favero said at some point late Friday night, February 6, 2015, her organic hair salon near the Snoqualmie Fire Station, as well as some neighboring businesses, experienced break-ins. But they weren’t your ordinary break-ins.
Breaking Thru Walls
Angela said it appeared the suspect(s) originally gained access through the salon’s back door in the Kimball Creek Retail area, as her back lock appeared pried open. From there, the salon’s back room was ransacked.
After that the suspect(s) moved into the restroom where they attempted to hammer through the restroom wall and hit a pipe inside. Angela said luckily the salon didn’t sustain any water damage, though.
From there the suspect(s) moved to the front of the salon where they ransacked the front desk and then successfully hammered through the wall and gained access to neighboring Edward Jones business. They then went through yet another wall and entered Snoqualmie Nails, Angela explained.
The salon owner said according to her locksmith, this type of burglary is on the rise – where suspects break-in to one strip mall [type] business and then gain access to more businesses through shared walls. She thinks the suspect(s) were after petty cash – or possibly identity theft was the goal.
The alarm in child care center may have been what finally scared the suspect(s) off according to Angela. Unfortunately, Lula Ruby didn’t have a security system, nor did her neighbors.
In the aftermath, Lula Ruby, along with other burglarized business owners, hired a private security company as a precaution until the businesses could be secured.
Angela said she is grateful for the support of the community following the break-in and wanted to share her story in order to give fellow Snoqualmie Valley business owners a heads up.
According to the Snoqualmie Police report, “the investigation revealed suspects broke through the drywall to gain access from the salon into the nail salon and Edward Jones branch next door.”
Police said at this time, “nothing of value was found missing.”
