Boeing Classic | A Decade in the Books, Jet Flyover Still Spooks Some Each Year

Note this date and time: Friday, August 21, 2015 at 11:20AM.

That is the exact time that a very large Boeing jet will fly LOW over the Snoqualmie Valley and TPC Snoqualmie Ridge (at about 1,000 feet) signally the start of this year’s Boeing Classic Champions Tour golf tournament.

For those new to the area (particularly Snoqualmie), the low flying jet can be a little bit shocking at first, but it’s always a site to behold.

This is the 11th annual Boeing Classic. Almost hard to believe it’s been over a decade since the Champions Tour, filled with some of the biggest names in pro golf, decided a Seattle area stop would be good for the game – and decided Snoqualmie would be the perfect location.

According to an article about the event, The Champions Tour holds more than two dozen tournaments each year and then annually honors tournament organizers of the best tour stops.

The Boeing Classic has received Champions Tour honors six times in the past decade, including the Presidents Award for best tournament in 2010 and the Players Award in 2011, where golfers pick their favorite tournament based on hospitality, fan interaction and the overall experience.

The 2015 Boeing Classic starts Friday, August 21st at 11:20AM and runs through Sunday, August 23rd.  For more information on pairings, players, tee times, tickets, etc. visit www.boeingclassic.com.
