Body recovered from Snoqualmie River near Sandy Cove Park

According to City of Snoqualmie Public Information Officer Joan Pliego, a body was recovered from the Snoqualmie River Monday evening, March 9, 2020.

A SPD source said two people called 911 to report the incident around 3:45PM. Pliego said the body was sighted about halfway across the Snoqualmie River from Sandy Cove Park, located at 7970 Falls Ave SE.

A kayaker in the river passed by what he thought may be a body caught in debris in the middle of the river. He paddled to Sandy Cove Park and asked a person to call 911.

Pliego said search and rescue crews also responded to the scene. King County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) Sgt. Ryan Abott confirmed KCSO Marine unit assisted Snoqualmie Police in recovering the body after it was located by a police drone.

The King County Medical Examiner took custody of the body for further investigation and identification.  The deceased is a light-skinned adult male of unknown age. The body may have been in the water for three to four days.

According to a city press release, there are no reported missing persons in Snoqualmie, North Bend or in King County.

The Snoqualmie Police Department is working with limited information. Any information the public may have about a missing person would be helpful. Please contact Snoqualmie Police Detective Jason Weiss at 425-681-1173 or jweiss@snoqualmiewa.gov.
